  16. I'm on the verge of buying an Emplant board for Mac emulation (and eventually
  17. 586 emulation). I just wanted to get some answers before I did.
  18.  
  19. 1) How do you get Mac ROMS and how much are they?
  20. 2) Since the Emplant has a SCSI port can you use that as a port for Amiga
  21. applications, like hooking up a CD-ROM drive, or is it just for Mac (Emplant)
  22. use? In other words, can the Mac and Amiga share a CD-ROM drive?
  23. 3) Since the Emplant shares RAM with the Amiga, can it be configured to use
  24. minumum RAM, or can it be shut down all together for full RAM use by the
  25. Amiga when needed (playing back Lightwave anims on the switcher)?
  26. 4) I have a 4000 with a 1084S monitor. Is this okay to view the Mac screen or
  27. do I need a graphics board and a different monitor?
  28. 5) Does the Emplant use the parallel port on the Amiga for printing? I have a
  29. Laserjet 4M so I can use either parallel or Mactalk port. The parallel would
  30. be much quicker.
  31. 6) How about the serial port on the Amiga. Does the Emplant share that for
  32. modem hook-up?
  33. 7) Will the 586 module allow the use of all three systems (Amiga, Mac and
  34. IBM) or do you need to choose between either Mac or 586 emulation from the
  35. board itself?
  36. 8) I've heard with a 4000/040 it's blazingly fast. Is this true? And with a
  37. Warp board it is faster than any stock Mac (excluding Power PC)? Whats a true
  38. unbiased report on the Emplants overall performance?

  42. 9) With the 586 running on the Emplant, you could run Windows. Does this mean
  43. you could have Lightwave for Windows render as well as Lightwave in the Amiga
  44. and have a self contained two machine render farm? I know there is serious
  45. problems with this theory I just need someone to set me straight.
